Entries open for Strathearn 2019 – Scottish 6 Days Orienteering

Entries opened on the 1st December for next year’s Scottish 6 Days (Strathearn 2019).  Further details of this fantastic event are on the Scottish 6 Days website or go straight to the Fabian 4 website to enter.

There is a fantastic variety of different terrain types spread across either side of the Highland Boundary Fault.  Two World Ranking Events are confirmed, with the complex new area of oak woodland (Dundurn & Cnoc a Mhadaidh) ideal for Middle Distance and the popular Craig a Barns, the birthplace of Scottish Orienteering, being used for the Long Distance.  This is an event that appeals to everyone, and in addition to orienteering, the area has much to offer including nearby castles, watersports, golf, cycling, walking and other leisure pursuits.  The Wednesday includes Sprint Orienteering in Crieff, the Heart of Strathearn as well as Trail O at nearby Drummond Castle.

Edinchip is a small but perfectly formed area new to orienteering at the west end of Loch Earn, and for those of you who ran at the SOL earlier in the year you will know that Auchinhgarrich has really opened out.  Culteuchar & Dron will be a big contrast with lots of fast running on open hillsides with fine views, and the final day at Grandtully uses an extended map with some pleasant running through birch forest (also Middle Distance).
