Selection policy outlined for Veteran Home Internationals 2019

The Scotland team for this September’s Veteran Home Internationals is set to be selected using the results of regional and national orienteering events across the country.

The squad for the event, which will take place in the Edinburgh area on 21st & 22nd September, 2019, will be selected using results from the following events.

Orienteers need to compete in at least two of these races to be considered and greater weight will be given to the results of the Scottish and British Orienteering Championship events.

For eligible orienteers based in England weight will be given to:

  • JK Middle – Sat 20 Apr – Windmill Hill
  • JK Long – Sun 21 Apr – Cold Ash

If competitors run up then their results will be taken into account on a minutes/km basis.

On occasions a competitor may be recovering from injury or illness, and know beforehand that they may not perform well in a selection race. In such circumstances, the competitor should let a selector know in advance together with their wishes regarding the inclusion of their result for selection purposes.

In general a ‘retired’ or ‘disqualified’ will be taken to be the equivalent of a very poor run: those wishing to be selected should take every precaution to avoid mispunching in a selection race.
