Scottish Juniors set off for JWOC

Six Scottish juniors have headed to Denmark for the Junior World Orienteering Championships which start this Sunday.

Grace Molloy (FVO), Megan Keith (INVOC), Eilidh Campbell (MAROC), Peter Molloy (FVO), Finlay Todd (INVOC) and Freddie Carcas (INT) are also joined in the 12-strong British Team by three Edinburgh University students – Eddie Narbett, Laura King and Alastair Thomas.

Grace showed excellent form winning last Friday’s JOK Chasing Sprint, with Finlay, Freddie and Peter also running strongly.  The bushy, vague Callendar Park woods would have proved good training for the Danish terrain, which is a mix of lightening fast forest and tricky patches of thicker vegetation.

The competition kicks off on Sunday with the sprint which takes place around the streets of the coastal city of Aarhus, and then heads back inland for the forest races, which are based in the hilly forests of Silkeborg.

Monday is the long race, Wednesday the middle qualifier, Thursday the middle final and Friday the relay.

The best places to follow the week’s races and results are the JWOC home page: https://www.jwoc2019.dk/ or the elite orienteering webpage world of o:  http://worldofo.com/

Very best of luck to all participants!
