New Operations Director Takes Up The Reins

We are delighted to announce that Ade Chapman (MOR) has been co-opted as our Operations Director. He will stand for nomination at our AGM but for now has joined the Board to bring his experience to the role and support the volunteers who comprise the Operations team.

Operations Director (co-opted) : Adrian Chapman

Now happily retired, Ade has a lifetime of experience from within the Royal Air Force with a background in electronics, aircraft flight deck crew and subsequently as a senior staff officer.  With excellent interpersonal and communication skills he has done a plethora of roles including, programme management, change management, personnel policy and infrastructure policy; he was even in a diplomatic role as a United Nations Monitoring Officer at one point.  Ade studied with the Open University gaining his degree in Mathematics and Computing, as well as a diploma in Computing, a Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership and a post graduate diploma in Environmental Decision Making.  A fully qualified Programme Manager with Prince 2 and APMP accreditation he brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to the Board.

Proud of his military background and service, Ade can often be seen sporting his RAFO top when out orienteering and still makes his home close to RAF Kinloss where he flew as part of a Nimrod crew for many years.  Also, very dedicated to his local club Moravian he is a very keen Planner and qualified Controller.  In his spare time Ade enjoys property development and DIY; he has taken on significant projects including whole house renovations and even the completion of a part-built property.  He does however, hope to spend the majority of his future time either taking part in orienteering or through roles such as the Operations Director for the SOA, hoping to “give something back” for the years of enjoyment he has already had from the sport.

Ade takes over the Operations Director role following in the footsteps of Keith Roberts who did a tremendous job in bringing the team of volunteers together and commissioning the Competition Calendar Review.
