Let’s Get Started Orienteering
Let’s Get Started is a range of resources to help teachers and parents introduce orienteering concepts. They have been created during the Covid-19 Lockdown and should be accessible to complete beginners to the sport. For each part there is short animated video explaining the concepts, a worksheet, a PDF copy of the teachers slides and any additional resources.

Part 1: The Map
The 1st topic introduces the concepts of maps and challenges you to create your own maps of your home or garden.

Part 2: Courses and Controls
The 2nd topic then covers drawing courses onto our maps and discusses controls and control descriptions.

Part 3: Setting the Map
The fundamental skill of orienteering is setting the map and keeping it set. This topic introduces the concepts of setting the map and includes games and activities to practice this.
