Working With Baroudeur

We are delighted to announce that Scottish Orienteering and British Orienteering have appointed Baroudeur Consultancy to lead on the ‘Making The Most of WOC 2024’ project. The initial project phase is 6 months to allow for scoping and consultation to identify opportunities and also create a delivery plan towards July 2024 and beyond. Some of the SOA staff and Board met with Baroudeur in Edinburgh earlier this week to identify key stakeholders and agree on the time lines of the project.

More details on the project brief are available here

“It is an exciting step forward bringing in Baroudeur and their areas of expertise in events, marketing and to add significant capacity to the discussions within the sport and externally about the potential opportunities associated with hosting WOC in Edinburgh in 2024. We hope to have a clear project plan agreed, following consultation, early in April 2023 to allow for focused and effective delivery over an 18 month time frame to capitalise on this unique platform for the sport” Fiona Keir, Scottish Orienteering Chief Operating Officer

Next Steps

Barouduer have already met with some of the staff from both Scottish and British Orienteering this week. They will follow this up with more in depth interviews with key staff, Board and WOC delivery partners in the coming weeks. Thereafter there will be extensive consultation in the form of interviews with identified stakeholders from within the sport and externally to gain a broad range of views and opinions. To maximise the opportunity presented by WOC2024 and in partnership with British Orienteering, Barouduer will work across the whole of UK to gather feedback and collate ideas. All members will be invited to offer their input through surveys with follow up focus groups established in early 2023 to review initial concepts.

We hope all clubs and members will take the opportunity to make their views and ideas heard through the consultation process.

Baroudeur commented “the team at Baroudeur are really excited to partner on this project. We’re looking forward to combining our passion for participation in sport and the outdoors with our expertise in marketing, events and engagement. We’re also pretty keen to get stuck into some orienteering”
