World Orienteering Week

What was World Orienteering Day has morphed into World Orienteering Week, now with 9 glorious days, 18th – 28 May. Any event over this period suitable for juniors can be registered on the WOW website. The IOF´s goals for this annual event are to increase the visibility and accessibility of orienteering to young people, increase the number of participants both in schools’ and club activities, inspire teachers to implement orienteering in a fun and educational way, and to extend the reach of the sport and enthuse the next generation of orienteers.

As an association we are always looking to build membership and spread the word about our wonderful sport and WOW gives us an opportunity to do that. You can either register an event that you are already running that week or consider reaching out to a local school by putting on some training or fun activities. Instructions for the mazes are in the SOA resources or ask Suzanne for suitable activities

Registration is easy via the WOW website and there is the opportunity to take advantage of the Si WOW special offer on training kites. We already have 6 events registered at Saughton Park – ESOC, Rozelle – AYROC, Balkello – TAY, Lauder – RR, Auchenblae – MAROC and Nethy Bridge – BASOC. Last year SOA ran 20 WOW events so let’s try and top that.
