Get involved in World Orienteering Week 2019!

With World Orienteering Week set to take place from 15th-21st May 2019 we’re helping schools, clubs and other groups across Scotland become part of the 350,000 people aiming to break a world record in this year’s event.

Whether you have a school, club, scout group, business or anyone else, Scottish Orienteering has set up three easy-to-organise events for different levels of orienteers, which you can download from our WOW webpage.

“World Orienteering Day” was started by the International Orienteering Federation in 2016 to raise the profile and participation in orienteering as a global sport, and has quickly grown to become a week of encouraging people of all ages to try orienteering.

Record numbers of children are expected to enjoy orienteering events in May

Last year, a record 349,000 people enjoyed orienteering events through the week and this year we’re aiming for more.

You can create your own “World Orienteering Day” by holding an event and encouraging people to enjoy a sport which combines fitness and quick-thinking. Any orienteering-related activity counts, and it can be a really simple one.
