It was another tricky day in the forests of Denmark, but three Scots performed well enough in the Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) middle qualifier to make it into tomorrow’s final.

While Grace Molloy has been grabbing the headlines for her medal winning performances, Claire Ward gives us an insight into all the action from Junior World Orienteering Championships in Denmark. Lots of positive performances from the Scottish athletes, with more to come!

On Friday 28 June, Callendar Park near Falkirk hosted the UK’s first ever orienteering event to be broadcast live, as The Adventure Show showed the JOK Chasing Sprint live on a beautiful summer evening, giving a fantastic introduction to the sport.

In early May the Scotland team headed to the World Schools Championships Orienteering in Otepää, Estonia, and you can now read the full, detailed reports written by Angus Ivory and Iris MacMillan.

An impressive 110 Junior orienteers from all over Scotland converged on Kingussie on Sunday 9^th June for the Jamie Stevenson competition – the annual junior inter-club competition, where juniors from all Scottish clubs battle it out for their club to be crowned champions. 

With a mixed weekend of weather, the 2019 Scottish Orienteering Championships weekend took place in Dumfries & Galloway, with the Individual Championships taking place in Dalbeattie Forest on Saturday 25th May and the Relay Championships at Drumlanrig Estate, near Thornhill, on Sunday 26th May.

Last week the World School Championships in Orienteering took place in Otepaa, Estonia. The team had a fantastic week, with some really solid results that bode well for the future, especially as many of the youngsters are in the younger year of the 2-year age category.

The 2019 British Orienteering Championships were a “tour de force” in Yorkshire for many of Scotland’s clubs and individuals, who headed south for championships based around Bradford, Leeds and the Yorkshire Dales.

A well-organised Jan Kjellström International Festival of Orienteering 2019 saw a huge effort put in by many volunteers from across the south of England and as far afield as Moravian. Four days of racing, plus two days of Trail O (Temp O and Pre O) proved fairly demanding for anyone who went for the full weekend!

Congratulations to all this year’s Scottish Night and Scottish Sprint Orienteering champions, who claimed their titles in the 2019 championship events which took place on Saturday 2nd (hosted by Interløpers) and Sunday 3rd Febrruary (hosted by ESOC.)
