Scottish orienteers take on Marmot Dark Mountains™

Orienteers including Elaine Elaine Gillies and Davie Frame At The Marmot Dark Mountains 2019 Photo Steve AshworthGillies and Davie Frame from TAY, Ben Stansfield (FVO) and Pat Bartlett (INT) and Sarah Dunn and Jon Musgrave from MAROC took part in this year’s Marmot Dark Mountains™ mountain marathon over the weekend.  The event took place in the Eastern fells of the Lake District with the stunning Lowther Castle as the event centre.  Great results included top place in the B Class for Sarah and Jon.

116 orienteers supported the 20th Edition of STAG’s 3 Parks In A Day Event with competitors representing AYROC (3), BORDERLINERS (2), CLYDESIDE (16), East Lothian (3), Edinburgh Southern (29), FORTH VALLEY (19), Guildford (1), INTERLOPERS (4), INVERNESS (1), Kingdom of Fife (2), Lakeland (1), Loch Eck (7), MAR (1), Roxburgh Reivers (2), South London (2), TAYSIDE (2), TINTO (1) & 5 with No Club & of course STAG (17).

Over 100 competitors take part in Junior Inter Area Competition 2018

More than 100 junior competitors gathered in Grant Park, Forres on the weekend of 27 October to contest the 2018 inter area relay competition. The crisp Autumnal sunshine at the start of the day soon gave way to driving sleet, but this didn’t prevent the juniors from racing hard for victory.

Sprint Scotland 2018

The races were varied in character, with Race 1 being a twist on the normal Scottish housing estate – with the estate being on a slope, and some tricky controls in the open area to finish catching out a lot of people. Read More…

Megan Keith (INVOC) wins gold at European Youth Champs!

The weekend kicked off with a tricky sprint race on Friday around the medieval fortress in the old town. Megan Keith (INVOC), competing for the first time at this level, had an incredible run winning the W16 gold medal by a massive 34s over the next competitor! This is an amazing achievement and GB’s first ever EYOC female gold medal! The others put in great runs in fields of around 100 all easily making top 35 (see below for all results). Read More…
