Celebrating Volunteers – Kingdom of Fife Orienteers

Thanks to the great feedback we received throughout Volunteers’ Week, we’re continuing to celebrate volunteers who help put on orienteering events across Scotland, and today we’re saying thank you to KFO’s John Emeleus & Matthew Clark!

KFO volunteer profiles

Volunteer’s Name:

John Emeleus

How long have they been a club member?

10+ years

How do they support the club and orienteering?

John is the Secretary of KFO.

What makes them shine as a volunteer?

He perpetually plans our local community events and organises the Big Events that no one else dare do or is qualified to do. He is the voice of calm reason on the committee. This is despite being a school teacher which also requires some time in the evenings.

Volunteer’s Name:

Matthew Clark

How long have they been a club member?

4 years

How do they support the club and orienteering?

Matthew is a general member of the KFO Committee.

What makes them shine as a volunteer?

Despite being a relatively new Orienteer and member, Matthew joined the KFO committee last year and brought a new perspective, ideas and enthusiasm to KFO. Along with other committee members he has been at every single local event to meet new people and share his enthusiasm for a great sport.

He’s also got that essential attribute to be a team player – a sense of humour!

A huge thank you to both of them and all orienteering volunteers across Scotland! If you’d like us to help your club highlight the work of volunteers in future, please email denise@scottish-orienteering.org.
