Good luck to all Scots at this weekend’s JK and “Not the JK”!

Everyone at the SOA would like to wish good luck to all the Scottish orienteers making the long trip south to this weekend’s Jan Kjellström International Festival of Orienteering 2019, as well as those staying north for Tayside Orienteers’ “Not the JK”, near Perth.

This year’s JK is being staged by the South Central Orienteering Association, with the events taking place west of London. Scotland staged the event in 2012 so there will be a welcome return here in a few years’ time.

The JK includes a Sprint (Aldershot), Middle Distance (Windmill Hill), Long Distance (Cold Ash) and Relay (Minley) as well as supporting Trail O events.  With over 2,000 runners on the main events and over 400 Relay teams, this will be one of the biggest events staged in the UK this year, with the Scottish 6 days expected to attract the usual 3,000 competitors in July & August.

For those staying north of the border, Tayside’s event at Perth’s Moncreiffe Hill features a range of courses, with registrations from 10:30am and starts from 11am until 12:30pm.
