Jamie Stevenson Trophy 2023

Forth Valley Juniors claim Jamie Stevenson Trophy for 2023

Scotland’s junior orienteers gathered in Plean Country Park near Stirling yesterday to compete for their club in the Jamie Stevenson Trophy.  The Jamie Stevenson Trophy event is Scotland’s junior inter-club competition and acts as a fund raiser for the Scottish Junior Orienteering Squad (Scotjos).

The juniors from 11 clubs from around Scotland made the journey to Plean Country Park for an event which allows club friendships to blossom.  Generally everyone ends up hoarse by the end of the day from cheering their team mates and it was helped yesterday the weather.

The traditional parade of the juniors with their flags was swiftly followed by an introduction to all present to the Scotjos Sunday morning warm up routine of quick feet through the cones.

For those with less confidence pairs were encouraged and some even investigated the play park on their way round their course !

Medals were awarded to all of those winning their courses but the biggest cheers of the day were saved for the winning team – Forth Valley Orienteers (FVO) – who pipped Inverness Orienteering Club (INVOC) to the Jamie Stevenson Trophy !  Full results can be found Here

INVOC and East Lothian Orienteers (ELO) did get the consolation of being awarded the prize for the most supportive Big and Small club – which potentially meant that their juniors travelled home slightly high on sugar!
