June – Celebrating Our Volunteers

June is Volunteers’ Month at SOA. Over the course of the month we will celebrate and recognize the ongoing contributions our members make to the sport.

Three categories of awards will be presented by the end of June. Please read on for more information.

Young Orienteer of the Year

Young Orienteer of the Year Award is designated to a young member, 21 years old and under, who has shown outstanding contribution to the sport and their club during 2019.

The President’s Medal

The President’s Medal is awarded annually to a volunteer who has contributed or achieved something exceptional in the last year or over recent years. This may be a club- or sport-related contribution, or athletic achievement.

National Volunteers’ Week

National Volunteer Week 1-7 June 2020 is a chance to celebrate our members who ensure events and coaching happen regularly, who support our clubs’ growth and who offer their valued expertise at the board and within their club committees.

During Volunteers’ Week the SOA website will feature nominated members each day for the entire week.

Please follow this link  to submit your suggestions for any or all the categories. Please submit your nominations by 29 May.

As outlined on the nominations document, please include name, club, a photograph if possible, and a few short sentences as to why you have put them forward. Email to : denise@scottish-orienteering.org
