Scottish Orienteering launches new website

The Scottish Orienteering Association has launched a new website, designed to help people new to the sport and regular orienteers find key information about the outdoor sport as easily as possible.

The site has been updated toScottish Orienteering website screen capture improve the visitor experience – especially for people using mobile devices and tablets – with the addition of guides to orienteering for beginners and schools, plus an improved, colour-coded events calendar and resources section.

Nick Barr, Communications Director for the SOA, said:

“After extensive work, our new site is ready to go. We wanted a dynamic site that would provide easily accessible information to readers, especially young people, who want to try the sport for the first time, as well as providing useful information and interesting news to those that have been orienteering before. The result is a site which provides information on orienteering in the great outdoors of Scotland which is easier to access.”

Website visitors who are new to orienteering can find information on how to try out the sport, with existing members able to see – at a glance – what events and training are coming up across Scotland thanks to an improved calendar.

Issues of our orienteering magazine SCORE are available to download free of charge, while SCORE articles are set to be included on the site in the coming months.

“Rather than remain static, we hope the new website will develop as the club and its members do, making it a helpful resource for orienteers in the years to come,” said Nick.
