Fiona has been heavily involved in most aspects of the sport during her tenure. She brought a wealth of knowledge about sports administration and made a significant contribution to the development of the SOA strategy. During the pandemic Fiona lead the discussions with sportscotland in developing the very effective guidelines that allowed us to protect members and restart orienteering as quickly as any sport. And most importantly during her time with us she has built and lead a highly effective staff team, been a pleasure to work with and her energy and enthusiasm will be sorely missed.

Fiona said: “It has been a pleasure to work within orienteering over the past 5 years. On a personal note the role of Chief Operating Officer has provided me a unique development opportunity, the role is diverse and mutli-faceted but has provided me many learnings which I will take forward in my career. As I leave the role, I would like to say a sincere thank you to all the staff, board and volunteers who have, at every stage, supported me in my role and provided my invaulable guidance along the way. There have been a number of changes throughout my time in post but I am very fortunate to have worked alongside so many committed people who have become friends. Orienteering is at an exciting point with WOC 2024 on the horizon and I hope all the clubs will work closely with the staff and board to maximise the opportunity that lies ahead. “

The SOA Board would like to thank Fiona for her significant contribution to the organisation over the past five years, and wish her well in her next role.
