Scottish Spring & Sprint Scotland raise over £4,000 for ScotJOS & SEDS

This year’s Scottish Spring and Sprint Scotland events have helped raise more than £4,000 to help the Scottish Junior Orienteering and Scottish Elite Development Squads.

Held in April and June respectively, the two events raised a total of £4,323 through donations as well as through a contribution from event organisers, Masterplan Adventure.

“This is absolutely fantastic,” said SOA Finance Director Ben Hartman. “Scotland’s athletes have had some great results in international competitional this summer – especially the juniors – and it’s great to receive funding which will help support both squads in the future.”

“Thank you to everyone who helped raise this sum, including the event organisers, everyone who took part, and everyone who made a donation!”

Jon Musgrave echoed Ben’s comments:
“ScotJOS are very grateful to receive this donation for the squad funds.  This money will go towards helping pay for the ScotJOS tour next summer when we plan to travel to Sweden for two 3-day races at Eskilstuna and Halland plus some high quality technical training near Eskilstuna and Gothenberg.

“The summer tour is a big expense – air tickets, vehicle hire, accommodation and food for about 40 people for over 2 weeks and even with a contribution from all the juniors there is still often extra costs – the fund-raising this season will help to cover those costs. “
