Moravian Orienteering Club’s New Development Officer
Last month we were excited to announce that Moravian Orienteering Club has appointed a new Development Officer – Will Hall. Club development officers are central to the development of a club. Club development officers help to lead the development of a club’s volunteer workforce and support the club to further build its capacity for new members. Previously Forth Valley and Tayside Orienteering Clubs have had development officers which enabled them to sustainably grow their membership.
Let’s speak to Will to find out more about him and his plans working with Moravian:
Another group of Young Coach Assistants has just completed their training, this time at Glenmore Lodge. The weather, which had threatened to be absolutely foul, was kind to us and, although we started off indoors by mapping the bar area whilst the snow melted, we soon moved outside to deliver practical coaching exercises.
ScotJOS and Talent Scotland had their 1st training camp of 2023 last weekend. The camp was based in Livingston with its multitude of underpasses, alleyways and complex housing estates providing the ideal location for a Sprint orienteering camp.
Last weekend ScotJOS gathered in Aberfoyle for their first camp of the 2022/23 session. Despite the rain of last week, the weather brightened and the juniors enjoyed some very technical training.

Despite the constraints of lockdown and Covid restrictions a lot of coach education happened in 2021. Having spent a much of the last 18 months adapting coaching courses to online and blended delivery, we have decided to keep this format for 2022 for the foreseeable future. The provisional coaching course calendar for 2022 is as follows:
